Thursday Beavers

We would like to welcome you to the 108th Pentland Thursday Beaver’s section of the website where you will find all the relevant information and links you need to be part of Thursday Beavers.

The Beaver Colony is the first and youngest section of the Scouting Association, the largest co-educational youth movement in the world. Beaver Scouting is all inclusive to young people aged between 6 and 8 years old.

In this tumultuous time on our planet it is more important than ever to instil into our youngster the right attitude in life, which is simply conveyed by our promise.

I promise to do my best
to be kind and helpful
and to love our world.

We meet every Thursday from 6.00pm until 7.00pm at the Baronial Scout Hall in at the back of the Bonaly outdoor Scout centre, across the bypass on Bonaly road at the foot of the Pentland hills.

During their time in the Colony, Beaver Scouts will get a chance to try a wide range of different activities as well as going on trips, days out, and sleepovers. Participation, rather than meeting set standards, is the key approach, and there are a range of badges and challenge awards that Beaver Scouts can gain to recognise their achievements.

We currently have a membership of 20 young people and a leadership team of 3. We enjoy and take great pride in delivering a fun and challenging weekly programme of events. This provides our young people with opportunities to achieve their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities. As is the Fundamentals of the Scouting Organisation.

We strive to promote a pleasant, safe and secure environment for our young people to discover and to learn. We promote positive relationships between our young people and our leadership team; we want to ensure our young people feel safe and supported throughout their time in Scouting.

In ensuring your child gets the most out of their experience with us at Beavers, we recognise the importance of strong links with parents and guardians. Parents/guardians are welcome to contact us at any time if they have any questions/queries and we invite you to further strengthen our partnership through your involvement in our evenings where we require additional support.

We hope you enjoy browsing our website! We hope to keep it up to date!

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
